2. What is Slope? Definition: Slope is the steepness of a non vertical line. It is measured by the following formula: Slope is the difference in the y coordinates over the difference in the x coordinates. Slope = rise over run

7. Sample Problems Problem 1: If F = (2,8) and Z = (-4, 6), find the slope of FZ. Solution: Use the slope formula: m=Y 2 -Y 1 X 2 -X 1 = 8-6 2-(-4) = 2 6

11. Practice Problems A (-3,3) B (3, 3) D (-4,-2) C (2, -2) Are AB and DC parallel? Yes. They both have zero slope. When two lines have the same slope, the two lines are parallel.

12. Practice Problems If angle A’BA is rotated 90 degrees about the origin in a clockwise direction, what will be the new coordinates of point A’? (2,1)
