7. The most powerful flood was in 1993, when a summer storm caused serious floods on Mississippi river in the USA. The flood caused damage that cost over 15 billion dollars.

9. A tsunami is…. a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water, typically an ocean or a large lake. And the World’s Biggest Tsunami was…. In 1958 when a wave 1720 feet tall or 526 meters hit Lituya Bay in Alaska. The wave hit with such power that it swept completely over the spur of land that separates Gilbert Inlet from the main body of Lituya Bay.

10. Snow is precipitation in the form of flakes of crystalline water ice that fall from clouds. Snowflakes come in a variety of sizes and shapes. And snow can cause avalanches An avalanche is a rapid flow of snow down a slope. Avalanches are typically triggered in a starting zone from a mechanical failure in the snowpack when the forces on the snow exceed its strength but sometimes only with gradually widening. After initiation, avalanches usually accelerate rapidly and grow in mass and volume as they entrain more snow.

11. On 31 May 1970, an earthquake off the coast of Peru caused a substantial section of the north slope of Mt. Huascaran to collapse. The avalanche moved down hill at a speed of 100 MPH with a mass of roughly 80 million cubic feet of ice, mud and rock. It ran nearly 11 miles, burying the towns of Yungay and Ranrahirca in up to 300 feet of rock and debris. Estimates suggest that the earthquake killed over 20,000 people. And that was the world’s lagest avalanche

12. All these disasters lead to: people without houses, huge cities under water, and of course: lost human lives.
