A strong squadron of ships appeared off the coast of New Amsterdam New Amsterdam surrendered to the English without firing a shot Winning New York, England gained an active harbor, strategically located in the middle of the mainland colonies The English banner now appears from Maine to Georgia The rich aristocratic feeling will stay in New York for years to come
