No metaphorical or allegorical meaning
The churches are real, and each one’s spiritual state is given.
Ephesus, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Smyrna, and Laodicea

Opposed to Paul’s preaching (Acts 19:24-31)
