3 Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) Completely updated in the past year  Conducted a formal job task analysis and field validation  Removed the Supervision domain  Adjusted the competency domains slightly: 1.Clinical Evaluation 2.Treatment Planning 3.Counseling 4.Case Management and Referral 5.Client, Family and Community Education 6.Documentation 7.Ethical and Professional Responsibilities 3

4 New CAP Exam 4 Deployed new CAP exam in July 2015 Decreased exam items from 150 to 100 50% new questions with more based on application of knowledge Passing score increased from 64 to 78 All exams administered online IC&RC exam is elective

5 Related Degree for CAP Effective July 1, 2015, all Certified Addiction Professional applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related field FCB Board has been working on a Waiver and Appeal process  Waiver - for acceptance of non-related degree  Appeal - for consideration of degree that is not on the approved list but has related coursework 5

8 8 MCAP Roll Out Available September 1 st 3 options for upgrading or applying directly 1.Upgrade – related Master’s degree & CAP in good standing issued before June 1, 2014 ($35) 2.Upgrade Plus - related Master’s degree & CAP in good standing issued after June 1, 2014, plus 50 item upgrade exam ($65 app./$65 exam) 3.Direct Application for MCAP ($150 app./$150 exam)

9 Requirements for MCAP Application Master’s degree in a related counseling field  counseling, social work, psychology, advanced nurse practitioner with psychiatric specialty or rehabilitation counseling 350 hours of education/training in the domains; all of the CAP domains, plus Supervision 200 hours of clinical supervision 4,000 hours of supervised work experience  Practicums as a part of a master’s program and at addiction service agencies can count toward this 3 Letters of Recommendation Passing the 125 item MCAP certification exam 9

10 MCAP Application/Licensed Professionals Proof of Florida license  A physician or physician’s assistant (Chapters 458 or 459, F.S.)  A professional licensed under Chapters 490 or 491, F.S.  A Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) licensed under Part 1 of Chapter 464, F.S. and meeting the Board of Nursing requirements for a Psychiatric ARNP designation. 145 hours of education/training; plus 18 hours of supervision-specific training 3 Letters of Recommendation Passing the 125 item MCAP certification exam 10

12 Update on CRPS Credential New job task analysis in 2014/2015; now out for field validation Change in philosophy – this is peer credential, not solely a mental health peer credential; based on core competencies Consolidates the three separate CRPS certifications and adds substance abuse New exam will be written after field validation of competency and task statements  Exam will be related to core competencies NOT lived experience 12

13 Lived Experience Attestations CRPS-A - an adult who has been in recovery for a minimum of 2 years from a substance use or mental health condition CRPS-F - a family member or caregiver to another individual who has or is in recovery from a substance use or mental health condition CRPS-V - a veteran of the armed forces who has been in recovery for a minimum of 2 years from a substance use or mental health condition 13
