3 Incorporation Google is a global technology company. It was founded on September 4, 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, financed by the engineer Andy Bechtolsheim. At first the search engine they had created was called BackRub, the name was then changed into “Google” with reference to the word “googol” (1 followed by a 100 zeros). “[Their] mission [was] to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

The service was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005 and has been owned by Google since late 2006.

Chrome chrome.com Google Chrome browser is an open source program for accessing the World Wide Web and running Web-based applications, available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Android and iOS operating systems. Google released Chrome in 2008 and issues several updates a year. Google Drive googledrive.com Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service provided by Google, released on April 24, 2012, which enables user cloud storage, file sharing and collaborative editing.

The devices are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and data residing "in the cloud". A Chromebook is an example of a thin client. Nexus 10 nexus10.com Nexus 10 is a tablet computer co-developed by Google and Samsung Electronics that runs the Android operating system. It is the second tablet in the Google Nexus series, a family of Android consumer devices marketed by Google and built by an original equipment manufacturer partner.
