4 Pathways Communication Academy, a learning community with rich and rigorous communication skills training, will provide a personalized education to prepare students for post-secondary life. Student's academic and personal potential will be obtained through standards-based curriculum, common core practices and meaningful life experiences in and beyond the classroom. Working in partnership with parents and the local community, the Pathways staff will develop student's college and career readiness skills as they prepare to be citizens of the 21st century. 6 JUNIORS Classes American History/ American Literature Essential Question What does it mean to be an American? Digital Portfolio Resume reflection and update, interview, mentors, written career plan, internship or job opportunity

7 JUNIORS Field Trips College visit, ropes course, cross age tutoring Communication skills Mentoring, cross age tutoring, internships, jobs

8 PATHWAYS MENTORING Junior Year Professional community volunteers Monthly commitment provides valuable insight into the “real world” of work Assistance with written career plan Follow up senior year to assist with portfolio development

13 Sophomore- Senior year 45 hours (15 hours/year) Hours must be turned in by May 12 Turn in hours ASAP A personal reflection must accompany each log sheet describing their service learning experience Senior Digital Portfolio and hours needed for sash SERVICE LEARNING

14 INTERMEDIATE DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION Juniors The Stampede! Bi-monthly video bulletin utilizing professional production and post production techniques Learn: Final Cut Pro, After Effects 3D Camera Tracking, Green Screen, Motion Graphics Creative freedom to produce DBHS relevant material Prerequisite for Advanced Digital Media Production

15 GRAPHIC ARTS MULTIMEDIA Seniors Production- short films, documentaries, music videos and various video projects utilizing industry standards Screenwriting- the foundation of all film productions Analysis of storytelling and opportunity to write Capstone project- documentary for Pathways senior project
