Mission Statement Assisting communities and non-profits with GIS implementation, supporting Oregon’s geospatial endeavors, and providing educational opportunities to students and citizens.

Why do this! I believe that small communities are under served by the geo-spatial community –Either because they are unaware of the benefits, or –Because they do not think they can afford the technologies or services provided by the larger geo-spatial community

Why do this? I think that a GIS can empower a local community/government and assist them in finding funding opportunities, in being more efficient; therefore serving their community more effectively. I don’t believe that GIS or geo-spatial services are unaffordable. I do think that once the benefits of thinking spatially are experienced by the community we intend to serve that there will be a greater need to obtain geo-spatial solutions.

GEO-CEG Community Enhancement with GIS –Non-profit –Provide small communities (and others) with low cost GIS. Education Services –Our focus will be to enable self sufficency –State Standards based –Assist with grant funding

GEO-CEG Community Enhancement with GIS –Research and participate with the state GIS standards process; giving small communities a voice. –Act as a geospatial advocate for the communities we serve by working with counties and state government to build a open dialog of cooperation

GEO-CEG Community Enhancement with GIS –Educate city management in GIS data use, creation and limitations –Training community staff in the operation, maintenance and use of their GIS to yield the best possible ROI. –Provide Educational activities for both paid and un-paid internships. Providing college students in a variety of disciplines with interesting and challenging work experience

Concerns Able to carry out our mission and provide small communities with a valuable service and promote collaborate work between the cities, counties and state agencies we end up working with. Long Term Funding. Develop a understanding of GIS and geospatial solutions. Promoting business opportunities for others in the geo-spatial community.
