4Overview Slicer3 communicates with BrainLab through BioImage Suite. BrainLab sends tracking data and images to BioImage Suite on VVLink.BioImage Suite relays the data to Slicer3 on OpenIGTLink.BrainLabSlicer3BioImageSuiteOpenIGTLinkVVLink
5Configure BrianLab Power on your BrainLab system. On BrainLab interface (see next slide), get to Tools->VV Link. Activate VV Link by clicking the button in the middle. This may need a license. Write down the password in the red oval. The password may be changed if BrainLab plugs in a different Ethernet jacket.

8Configure BioImage Suite 1. Enable OpenIGTLink andVectorVisionLink3. Left click to close and then exit BrainLab2. Left click to savePreferences
9Configure BioImage Suite Start BioImage Suite again.Check and make sure both OpenIGTLink and VectorVisionLink are enabled.
10Connect BioImage Suite to BrianLab 2. Left click to bring the VVLink/OpenIGTLinkwidget1. Left click the Neurosurgery button
11Connect BioImage Suite to BrianLab Left click to bring up the VVLink Tool widget
12Connect BioImage Suite to BrianLab 1. Left click to a new server (BrainLab system)2. Input the IP address of the BrainLab system3. Input the password saved before4. Left click to add server
13Connect BioImage Suite to BrianLab 1. The added server should be listed here. Make it visible2. Left click to connect3. If the connection succeeds, on both sides, you will see a confirmation message. Click OK button to confirm.
14Connect BioImage Suite to Slicer3 Choose OpenIGTLink IF module
15Connect BioImage Suite to Slicer3 1. Left click to add a new connector2. Check it as server3. Check it as active
16Connect BioImage Suite to Slicer3 1. Input the server (Slicer3) name or its IP address and port number2. Left click to connect3. Confirmation message after pressing Connect button
