4 Junior year process Visiting colleges  GPA-based (1-2 trips)  Week-long college tour Parent-Student-Counselor meeting  After the 1 st semester Narrowing down college list  About 12 schools  At least 4 in NJ  Safety, match, and reach schools Writing college essays  Common app essay topic

5 Junior year process Final PSAT (Scores coming this week!)  Help to predict how students do on SAT  Qualify for scholarships  Colleges are notified of college-bound students Taking SAT 1-2 times (January and May)  Cost and Waivers (Can get up to 2 waivers, $52 after that)  Studying – Method Test Prep and possible books  Sending Scores during senior year ($12/college) Taking ACT’s (June)  Waivers (can get up to 1 waiver, $55 after that)  Sending Scores during senior year ($12/college) PARCC (March)  Replacing the HSPA

6 Possible SAT Study Materials – Can purchase on amazon, Barnes & Noble, Etc.

7 PARCC In order to graduate, students will need to pass 1 part of the English and 1 part of the math PARCC or one of the supplementary tests

8 Getting ready for applications and financial aid Application costs  Common app waivers (can we waived for all of the schools applied to on the common application)  Collegeboard college application fee waivers (receive 4 if you are eligible for SAT waivers)  Sending SAT/ACT Scores (needed in order to mark apps complete)  Application fees – Can be anywhere from $35 - $75 per app Saving tax forms  EOF will need last 3 years of tax data! Grants vs. loans vs. scholarships Colleges and financial aid Residency  Must have a social security number to be eligible for financial aid

9 Week-Long College Tour What?  5 day junior college tour  40 junior students  Visit anywhere between 8-10 colleges Where?  Currently researching schools in PA and Ohio When?  March 16 th – March 20 th Why?  Understand the differences between schools  Begin making decisions on best-match schools How?  Travel by coach bus  Cost is approximately $200, split into payments (beginning in Jan)  Must be earned through behavior

10 Junior/Senior Prom Thursday, June 4 th from 7pm-10pm Park 33 in Freehold, NJ  http://park33.com/ Possibility of bus transportation  Survey will be sent home Tickets will be approximately $80 each  Class does have the ability to fundraise to cut the cost of their tickets  Can do class fundraisers or individual fundraisers  Mr. Dral is 11 th grade level chair
