5 Assessment Requirements All students are required to take and pass the Georgia High School Writing Test in order to receive a diploma in Georgia. Students will have five opportunities to pass this test before their graduation date.

9 New HOPE Rigor Requirements For the Class of 2016, students must meet additional requirements to be eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship. Students not only must have a 3.0 GPA in core courses, they must also complete the new rigor requirement. This requirement is that students must take and pass three rigor courses. Rigor courses offered at SEHS are marked by an asterisk on the registration form, and they are also included on the back of the handout.

17 Work-Based Learning This program is for students 16 years or older. This program allows students to receive high school credit while developing skills in the workplace. Students do not have to have employment prior to entering this program; however, the student should have a job in his/her program concentration area to participate. Students in this program must have a driver’s license, student parking permit, and have personal transportation to participate in this program. Students interested in work-based learning should see Mrs. Truluck (Room # 302) for an application, additional information, and regulations.

18 Dual Enrollment This program allows students 16 years and older to take courses for high school and college credit. Students must meet enrollment requirements of the college. Please see your counselor for more information.

19 Senior Checklist!! Meet with your school counselor to review your transcript and graduation requirements. Take the SAT, ACT, or COMPASS, depending on what is required by your school(s) of interest. Keep track of application deadlines, test dates, college fairs and admissions events (you can do this in your EVENTS CALENDAR on GACollege411).

20 Senior Checklist!! Ask your school counselor about scholarship opportunities and research them on your own (you can do this by using the SCHOLARSHIP FINDER on GACollege411). Complete and submit college applications and transcripts (do this early!! You can use the APPLICATIONS AND TRANSCRIPTS link on GACollege411.org to request your transcript be sent electronically to the school(s) of your choice) If you are an athlete, send transcripts to the NCAA for eligibility purposes (this can be completed through GACollege411.org)

21 Senior Checklist!! Complete and submit the FAFSA and/or GSFAPPS online after January 1, 2016. If required, send mid-year grade reports to colleges to which you have applied. Take Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Ask your college(s) of interest if they will accept AP courses as college credit. Make your decision by May 1, 2016 as to which college you will attend.

22 Senior Checklist!! Using GACollege411.org, ask SEHS to send your final transcript electronically to the college(s) to which you have applied. If planning to go out-of-state for college, fill out a “Transcript Request Form” in the counselor’s office. Visit the Counselor’s Corner on our school web site regularly for senior information.
