13  Industrial Shed at many locations is still Asbestos Asbestos is carcinogenic. Fumes are released when the sheet is punctured for installing clamps/structure. Asbestos sheds are fragile in nature so chances of sheets break during installation of panels or during maintainence  Tilt angle in Industrial Sheds For achieving bet yield tilt angle should be close to the latitude of the location. In Industrial sheds, the tilt is the same as the inclination of the shed which is usually about 8 degrees, less than latitude and thus decreases yield. Another challenge is that if we don’t keep the panels in same angle as the roof then we won’t be able to sustain wind loads  Directions For achieving best yield, panel have to be installed in south facing direction, south-facing roof is not available at most of the places.  Shadow free roof Shadow of tall building adjacent to the location may not allow good capacity to be installed. So planning for solar can be difficult. Also people usually have HVAC, Tank on rooftop that limits the space, especially in RCC roofs. Challenges in Rooftop

14  For industrial sheds customers tend to go for the system phase wise This limits the benefit of economies of scale resulting to higher prices and also higher tariffs in RESCO model  Lack of Net Metering policy implementation As most rooftop solar is for captive consumption, during holiday season when load is low the extra energy goes to the grid, which changes the grid meter value To avoid this either net metering is required or one has to provide reverse current protection which increase the system cost by at least 3 Rs/Wp.  Implementing battery-based off grid system is not very economically viable due to high cost of batteries.  Remote monitoring system cannot be implemented in small systems less than <25 kWp as high cost of these make it not so attractive and commercially viable.  People are waiting for government subsidies to install rooftop solar despite MNRE instructions. The subsidy point needs to be clearly addressed. Challenges in Rooftop
