2 Let’s Communicate! I Say You Say and Do If I say, “Class, Class”
If I say, “Computers Down” When it’s time for you to start your activity I will say, “Ok, get started” You say, “Yes, Yes” and be ready to listen You tilt your computer lid down and pay attention You begin working, level 1 voices only Set the stage with classroom procedures. Group students. Tables color and number for ease in calling on students.

3 Why? Professional Athlete??
When I ask, “What do you want to do for a career?” many kids will tell me that they would like to be a professional athlete video game tester singer Why? Unfortunately, most people who set these goals will not be able to have a career in these fields, because they are highly competitive. There are many more people who want these jobs, than there are jobs available, so people with elite skills are the only ones who have the opportunity.

4 Enjoy Your career They have the right idea!
Finding a career where you can do things that you enjoy is very smart. Work will be a big part of your life and take up a lot of your time. Enjoy every day by finding a career you love!

5 How do you find the right career for you?
WS Start by thinking about the things you like to do Group share Independent writing Things I like to do Put a star by your 5 favorites One thing I want to learn Use Handout “Things I Like To Do” from the NCIS website. Review the worksheet so that students know what they will have to do when filling it out. Have each group member share ideas for 30 seconds. Use timer call the number of the student whose turn it is. Then, give 5 minutes of independent time for students to write out their worksheet. At the bottom write one thing you want to learn.

View Activity Map Who Am I? Learn About Me Things I like to Do Add reflection “Save information” and “Insert Today’s Date” Show students that the Things I Like To Do activity sheet came from this website. Computers Down Demo add reflection Students fill out the reflection and save it.

Toolbar Who Am I? Tools Career Clusters Inventory Rate the Activities SAVE Show students how to access the Career Cluster inventory Computers Down Read through the intro Administer the Inventory and save results

Where Are the Pages and Results I’ve Saved Sort and Assessment Results Career Cluster Inventory Restore Answer Set Continue Go to the portfolio to see that the results of the inventory have been saved in the portfolio

Career Cluster Inventory Click on your highest rated cluster SAVE My Portfolio View My Portfolio Where are the Pages and Results I’ve Saved Favorites Computers Down Save the cluster to the portfolio and type in “This was my top rated cluster” Allow students to do the same Then go back to the portfolio to show students that their cluster was saved

My Portfolio My Saved Occupations Click on your saved cluster Read through the Topics in the Overview on the left side Computers Down Verbally list the topics for students before they start. Put emphasis on the topic that talks about choice of school courses. Tell students they will be asked questions about what they learned. Set timer for 3 minutes. Research Occupations Click on Occupations Computers Down Lead students through the first Occupation search. Watch Video. Point out the information that is available. Show students how to save the occupation and then show them how it is now available in their portfolio. Give students 5 minutes to research and save those that they are interested in in their portfolio. Follow up by calling out a color and number to see who will share I am interested in _____ in the _____cluster. I like it because…

Video Start with an Occupation Choose one from your saved occupations Computers Down Watch the Reality Check Video together Show students how to do a reality check starting with an occupation Give them 5 minutes to complete their reality check Save your reality check and it will be in your Portfolio also.
