3 P&A Description in five yr plan (1) About Project and Applications Subgroup The emphasis here is on the development of specific projects and applications, working with outside organizations to understand their requirements and help them exploit the tools and services available through WGISS and its members and associates. To this end, WGISS has developed the concept of the WGISS Test Facility. About Project and Applications Subgroup The emphasis here is on the development of specific projects and applications, working with outside organizations to understand their requirements and help them exploit the tools and services available through WGISS and its members and associates. To this end, WGISS has developed the concept of the WGISS Test Facility. The WGISS Test Facility offers a framework under which WGISS will work in partnership with selected international science and EO projects to test and develop information systems and services prototypes to meet their requirements. Specific WGISS Test Facilities are established to address the needs of individual science projects. By making available WGISS Test Facilities for this purpose, WGISS information systems, services and products will be demonstrated and improved taking into account user requirements and lessons learned. Such demonstrations and prototyping activities will advertise WGISS's technical capabilities, lead to an improved take-up of its products and facilitate improved coordination of information systems and services across the spectrum of EO space operations. 4 P&A Description in five yr plan (2) The WGISS Test Facilities encompass the agglomeration of WGISS tools and services held and operated by CEOS WGISS members and associates. These will be made available via an on- line WGISS Menu which is basically a web site providing an open reference list of WGISS products, systems and services. The WGISS Menu will be linked on-line to the products, systems and services held by the individual organizations. The various individual WGISS Test Facilities created and monitored under the Projects and Applications Subgroup. Other projects with a strong external interaction are also included in this Subgroup. The scope of the activities includes convening workshops, authoring papers or books and developing global dataset products. External organizations with specific overlapping interests include the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and the Global Map Project. The membership to the CEOS WGISS Projects and Applications Subgroup is open to all Members and Associates of CEOS. CEOS WGISS Projects and Applications Subgroup may invite guest participation from other organizations by decision of the sub- group members. Usually, sub-group member should follow the WTF Basic Principal. The membership to the CEOS WGISS Projects and Applications Subgroup is open to all Members and Associates of CEOS.
