1 Lesson: Divisibility Patterns Objective: To review divisibility patterns Vocabulary: Factor: The numbers that are multiplied to get a product are the factors of the product. Factors are integers that divide evenly into other integers. EX: The number 6 has four factors, 1,2,3 and 6 because they are the numbers that divide into 6 evenly. List the factors of the following numbers. 1) 8 2) 12 1, 2, 4, 8 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12

2 Divisibility Patterns: A number is divisible by: 2 if the number is even 3 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3 4 If the number formed by the last two digits is divisible by 4 EX: 68, 124, 258, 1,056 144, 1023, 35,001 912, 5,336 5 If the last digit (ones digit) is a 0 or 5 80, 155, 23,510 6 If the number is divisible by both 2 and 3252, 1,134 7 NoneDivide by 7 to see if it divides evenly 8 If the number formed by the last three digits is divisible by 8. 563,080 5,800 9 If the sum of the digits is divisible by 9918, 12,357 10 If the last digit(ones digit) is a 0250, 45,380 740

3 Ex: Determine if 2,418 is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 2 Yes the last digit is even 3Yes 2 + 4 + 1 + 8 = 15 and 15 is divisible by 3 4 No 18 (the last two digits) is not divisible by 4 5 No the last number is not a 5 or 0 6Yes the number is divisible by both 2 and 3 8 No 418 is not divisible by 8 9No 2 + 4 + 1 + 8 = 15 and 15 is not divisible by 9 10No the last number is not a 0
