RMP PROPOSAL SQO BENTHIC DEMONSTRATION Bruce Thompson and Sarah Lowe San Francisco Estuary Institute
Demonstrate collaboration with DWR for benthic sampling Test proposed SQO benthic assessment methods Conduct demonstration SQO assessments OBJECTIVES
Option 1: Demonstration with DWR in San Pablo– and Suisun Bays RMP staff will accompany DWR on their October cruise Sample 4 sites each in San Pablo-, and Suisun Bays - DWR: benthic samples - RMP sediment chemistry and toxicity samples using current RMP protocols Estimated Cost: $47,000
Option 2: DWR Collaboration and RMP Sampling Entire Estuary Option 1 and additional RMP benthic sampling Four RMP sites in each of the five remaining Estuary segment (Extreme So. Bay, So. Bay, Central Bay, Carquinez, and Rivers). Estimated Cost: $81,000
Option 3: RMP Sampling with S&T RMP demonstration during S&T summer cruise Collect benthic samples at all 27 sites where sediment chemistry and toxicity are scheduled to be collected Estimated Cost: $57,000
Schedule Sampling and analysis in 2007 Assessment and report in 2008, within 3 months of receipt of data. Products: - demonstration of collaboration with DWR - test sediment assessments using proposed SQO methods
