3 Information and Communications Technology slide 3 Accessing MyUni Access to MyUni requires UniKey – your University user account UniKey consists of a username/password pair All students have a UniKey account; details are included in your enrolment pack Note: UniKey does not give access to the Library’s electronic resources

6 Information and Communications Technology slide 6 Email All students are provided with a University email address –e.g. jlee1234@mail.usyd.edu.aujlee1234@mail.usyd.edu.au Official communication is sent to this address –You can set up mail forwarding by using the Helpdesk Express Account Tools available on the IT Assist website Accessing your email –Access to your email is free at any Access Centre –You can access email from any internet-connected computer Some departments issue additional email accounts

7 Information and Communications Technology slide 7 Accessing the University network Access Labs –Computers in the University Access Labs are available to all students –Some faculties operate their own computer labs Wireless (802.11b/g) –Access Labs –Wentworth, Holme, Manning –Libraries –Numerous other locations –Set-up instructions on IT Assist web site –Help available in the Access Labs Home Broadband using VPN (Virtual Private Network) Dial-up (using ICT as your ISP)

8 Information and Communications Technology slide 8 Support ICT Helpdesk Available to all students –Visit at the University Computing Centre (H08) –Assistance is also available in some Access Labs –By Phone: +61 2 9351 6000. During semester: the phones are staffed from: 8:00am to 9:00pm AEST Monday – Thursday 8:00am to 7:45pm on Fridays Outside of semester the phones are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday - Friday. –By Email: support@usyd.edu.ausupport@usyd.edu.au Delays of a number of days may be experienced before a reply is sent. –By Fax: +61 2 9351 6004 Your Faculty may also provide a local support service

Example: mp3 and video files files –It is illegal to download, store, reproduce or distribute video and music for which you do not own the copyright
