4 Double click on a class in order to access the assignment list.

5 Click Lessons to view assignment list. Click Progress to view activities completed.

6 Double click on assessment name in order to begin the assessment.

7 During the assessment do the best that you can. If you do not know an answer, click the right hand or the right arrow to go on to next question.

8 Some questions may require you to type in an answer. Type the answer, push Enter on the keyboard and then click ONCE on the right hand or right arrow to continue to the next question.

9 Some questions will require you select an answer. Click ONCE on your answer, and then click ONCE on the right hand or right arrow to continue.

10 If you need to quit in the middle of an assessment, make sure you are on the final page of that skill set (Page: 4 of 4 or 3 of 3). Click on STOP. Select YES if you are finished answering the questions. Click YES if you do not wish to answer any unanswered questions. Next time you access the assessment the system will start you off in the next skill set.

11 A red apple shows the assessment has been completed. Red apples will appear as assignments are mastered. Your prescribed assignments for a class appear on this screen after the assessment has been completed.

12 Begin working on your prescribed assignments. Double click on the lesson. You will go directly to a 10-question Pretest.

13 The lesson will be considered mastered if you can pass the pretest. If multiple choice, click on the answer. Click on right hand or right arrow to continue. If a fill in the blank. Type an answer, press Enter. Click on right hand or right arrow to continue.

14 Click Yes to see test results.

15 80% or better: Click STOP. Go back to lessons and continue with next lesson. Less than 80%: Click STOP. You will be taken to the lesson. Select Study.

16 Study: You must study before you are allowed to take the practice test.

17 You may study for the practice test by reading the pages within the study guide and taking notes. To continue or go back to a page, click on the hands or the arrows.

18 There are extensions for learning in ALS lessons that might be required by your teacher. This icon is a link to an Encyclopedia Britannica® article.

19 You may also search for other articles here.

20 Another extension to learning are NLVM Activities. Click to access.

21 Each NLVM have instructions, please read before attempting activity.

22 In science you might come across an icon that looks like a shield. Clicking on it will display one or more interactive activities created by Cambridge University®. They also might be required by your instructor.

24 Some math lessons have a built in calculator along with instructions.

25 Click on the ? Button for a manual for the calculator.

26 Practice: You must master the practice test before you are allowed to take the mastery test.

27 Correct answer feedback during the practice test. Click on the hand to continue.

28 Incorrect answer feedback. Click on forward hand to continue. Re-enter answer. Click on hand.

29 Once you have completed the practice test you will see this prompt. Click once on Yes. From the practice test you can access the study to review and then return to the test.

30 This screen shows you the results of the test you just finished. Remember, you need to achieve an 80% or better in order to take the Mastery test.

31 Test: 80% or better on the mastery test is needed to receive an apple. When the practice test is mastered access is denied.

32 Essay: This step is not required by VPL for mastery of the lesson in all classes. Your instructor may require you to answer some or all of the essay questions for the class and some classes have required essays.

33 Review Test: After you master ALL of your lessons, you will be given a final exam. This assures your teacher that the skills have been truly mastered.

34 Click Progress to view activities completed.

35 Progress only shows attempts and scores for pretest and mastery test.

36 Finished? Click on the STOP sign to Log Off

37 It is important to take the assessment seriously. You must quit on the final page of the skill set. Answer question 4 and then exit. Choose or type in your answer and use the hand to continue to the next question. Hit Enter if you type in an answer. When the assessment is complete, it may take a minute for the results to generate. The lessons will appear automatically. Assessment Reminders

38 Assessments can take between twenty minutes and two-hours to complete, have patience. Lessons are considered mastered if you master the pretest. You must study and master the practice test before you can go onto the Mastery test. Practice test will be locked after you have mastered it. If you do not pass the mastery, you have the option to go back and study.
