The Britten Thematic Catalogue Lightning Talk – NEMLA Fall Meeting 2010 Jonathan Manton Britten-Pears Foundation
Aims: 1 Create an online catalog of Brittens complete works based around the composers holograph manuscript sources (98% at BPF), including: all published, original works arrangements and realizations juvenilia unfinished works unrealized projects
Aims: 2 To provide documentary information for each work, including: Composition details (date, revision, dedicatee, text set, etc) Brief composition history (for complex works) Details of manuscript sources Publishing information Notation and corresponding audio incipits
Aims: 3 To ensure that the catalog design is extendable in order to integrate information from other BPF resources or future projects, including: Correspondence Diary entries Photographs Production materials (costumes, set designs, programs) Bibliography Upcoming performance calendar
Aims: 4 To create a catalog that exploits the potential of, and is appropriate to, online functionality: Concise individual records Efficient use of cross referencing links Content rich features / multimedia not incorporated into traditional print based thematic catalogs
