3 What is ? F E I E A A cross-border organisation of employee communicators with a 50 year record of working together. Our 12 affiliated member countries set aside language and cultural differences to share knowledge and improve the effectiveness of employee communications.

4 Who belongs to ? F E I E A Just as the role of the employee communicator is evolving, so the scope of FEIEA has grown since it began life as the Federation of European Industrial Editors Associations. FEIEA retains its focus on internal communication but many members of FEIEA’s affiliate associations are also involved in management and practice across a broad spectrum of business communication.

5 Who belongs to ? F E I E A FEIEA comprises 12 national associations with around 4,000 members located in: Austria Belgium Britain Denmark Germany Hungary Ireland ItalyPortugal Slovenia Sweden and Switzerland

6 F E I E A What does offer? A pan-European federation which speaks with a European voice on internal communications, in dealings with the European Union, business, economic, academic and social organisations. FEIEA provides an active network of professional support for employee communicators. FEIEA aims to broaden members' knowledge of corporate communication affairs in Europe.

7 F E I E A Who runs ? FEIEA has a voluntary, dedicated team of leaders and supporters with a vision beyond boundaries and a determination to get things done. FEIEA is funded via a small annual per capita charge levied on each national association.

8 F E I E A President of FEIEA presidents are customarily appointed for three years. The current president is Dr. Birgit Snizek of Austria. The immediate past president (1996 - 2000) is Alan Peaford of the UK.

9 F E I E A The Congress Each Congress is hosted by a different FEIEA country, bringing delegates together in open sessions, workshops and company visits. Past themes have included networking, company structures, the role of in-house consultants, strategies, targeted communications, cost pressures, the corporate information gap, and employees as corporate ambassadors.

10 Over 15 years, the FEIEA Congress will have visited five countries… 1992 - Paris 1994 - Crans Montana 1996 - Billund 2000 - London 2006 - Sweden The Congress F E I E A ( 1951: 1st international congress of corporate communicators ) ( 1955: birthplace of FEIEA )

11 F E I E A The Council FEIEA’s 'parliament' is the yearly Council meeting which coordinates and manages FEIEA’s activities. Two delegates attend from each member country. A small Executive Committee also meets twice a year to deal with management issues. From Autumn 2003, a small number of sub-groups are being established to progress specific activities.

13 F E I E A Outreach In addition to the 12 FEIEA member countries, FEIEA has links with national associations in France, Spain, Czech Republic, Greece, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Netherlands. FEIEA also aims to develop contacts with professional communicators elsewhere in Europe and in developing countries.

14 F E I E A Awards The Grand Prix An annual international communication competition organised by FEIEA. Diplomas of Honour These recognise outstanding service in the promotion of better human relationships in organisations, through communication. A small number of Diplomas of Honour are awarded every year.

15 F E I E A Press Cards A service for FEIEA members, approved by the European Union, certifying the card-holder’s status as a member of a professional association for communicators in business. Application via the Head Office of any FEIEA national association.

16 F E I E A On Line FEIEA Website For latest news from FEIEA and communication insights from around Europe - visit www.feiea.org.uk FEIEA Online A free electronic discussion forum, available to all European business professionals interested in discussing key communications issues.

17 F E I E A Research Delphi study 2001 Carried out by FEIEA in conjunction with the University of Salzburg, packed with data on present trends and future developments in internal communication in Europe. The full report can now be downloaded free from www.feiea.org.uk - data is free to use provided FEIEA is properly acknowledged as the source. Other research Members of FEIEA affiliates also have access to other communication-related research.

18 F E I E A Future events FEIEA IN 2004 The Executive meets in Copenhagen in April. October’s Executive and Council meetings take place in Berne, which will also showcase the first FEIEA Academy event. Golden Jubilee 2005 FEIEA will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2005. FEIEA plans to mark the jubilee in Brussels, with a lecture followed by a banquet. FEIEA Congress 2006 Will be held in Sweden in autumn 2006.
