NWHPEC Board Meeting November 20, 2014 via telecom In Attendance: Jennifer Ayers, Richard Carroll, Mike Funke, Brett Gantz, Bryan Goodman, Kyle Stavig, Alex Thomason, Julie Simmons Adjourned: 1:25pm Financial Update (Mike): -No financial documents were reviewed as Kim is on an extended vacation -Julie reviewed the two 401k options available through Wells Fargo. The Board strongly supported setting up the option allowing Julie to max out her yearly contributions. The set up and annual fees will be covered by NWHPEC. Julie has the actions to: 1) Identify the legal limit on the match cap and 2) see if NWHPEC can increase the match amount to use the “simple plan”, but make Julie whole. Update: both 401k options only allow a 3% employer match, no more, no less. Event Updates (Julie): Learning Tours: November 18 th at Entek in Lebanon. Even with the 1.5 hour drive, we had 16 attendees. Good Learning Tour with good comments and scores via the evaluation. Julie will start scheduling the 2015 Learning Tours in December Training Classes: Intro to Lean class scheduled for December 11 th at Con- way. Robert Shaw and Heidi Hicks are the instructors. Class is full. Executive Forum’s: Toyota Kata with Mike Rother and the IK/CK Workshop held in October. Both events were sold out and evaluated well. Julie will work with Mike to get on his 2015 calendar for the TK Overview Session Leader Session: David Marquet is scheduled for January 22 nd at Con-way. Julie is working on pulling together the leader contact information for the Board Next Board Meeting:Annual Holiday Meeting & Celebration December 12, 2014 2:00 – 4:00pm Bethany’s Table 15325 NW Central Drive Suite J-1 (off Bethany Rd & 26) Portland, OR New Business: 2014 – 2015 Survey Results: The Board reviewed the 2014 – 2015 survey results. A couple of items different from past surveys: -Survey Response: 45%. Past surveys have been completed by 55 – 60% of membership -Forecasted training needs: Past surveys have always identified the Intro to Lean class as the #1 class needed in the coming year. This year, the highest forecasted class was the Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata one-day class using a simulation -Learning Tours: 12 companies responded interest in hosting a Learning Tour -Repeat Executive Forums: #1: Mike Rother Toyota Kata, #2: Mike Hoseus Toyota’s Training and People Development Process, #3: Mike Hoseus Practical Problem Solving, and #4: David Mann Creating a Lean Culture -General Comments: The website was a theme this year. Comments around it not having updated info and being difficult to navigate were more than fair Future Leader Speakers: Kyle discussed the AME Conference keynotes and how good they were asking if we wanted to reach out to any of them for 2015. Billy Taylor and Marcus Buckingham were names discussed. Julie suggested reviewing the response rate for the David Marquet session and using that to inform our next step. We discussed reaching out to Billy Taylor to check his availability and discuss the possibility of working with us in the June timeframe
