5 Conduct Record Communication tool Digital record of his “application to school” Teachers insert comments into Pencilbox, eg homework not done OR test not signed OR unprepared for lesson OR poor behaviour Positive (Blue) and Negative (Red) Entries 3 Blue’s cancel I Red Checked by grade head once per week 3 Red Entries and you will be alerted by Grade Head via email of his indiscretions Ensure your email addresses are correct – the Read Receipt is an acknowledgement of receipt

6 Guide to Policies & Practices Issued to each child Explained by me during this camp and signed for Part of your enrolment contract is your acceptance Parents familiarise yourselves – Parent Portal Familiarise himself with the document Level 1 Detention – 1 hour for minor offences Level 2 Detention – 4 hours Friday afternoon; often include demerits Detention Letter will be issued which must be signed and returned to the College Zero tolerance Bullying, Fighting, Drugs (steroids included), Theft and Alcohol

7 Guide to Policies & Practices Absenteeism Letter of explanation on day of return Cycle Tests require a doctor’s note - NB Test will be written as soon after returning as possible Planned absenteeism eg sports tours, provincial representation, special occasions Mid-term break and end of term early holidays

8 Guide to Policies & Practices Lates and Excuses 7:20 Registration Lates require a letter of explanation. No letter will result in break detention Letter of request to be excused from school early Handed to Year Head at least ONE day before event Work missed his responsibility to catch up Collect boys from foyer. He will have received a Sign Out Slip

9 Security Responsibility Stolen, Gave it to, Left it outside All items to be clearly marked, reducing possibility of loss and theft Lost property checked Theft CCTV throughout almost entire College Boy must ensure that their belongings are placed in a secure area. Bags left unattended on the fields are difficult to monitor Report theft to Mr van Der Linde or Mrs Strydom

10 Academics Homework 1.5 - 2 hours per day EVERYDAY Written in diary or entered into telephone Assessment Academic term planner Weekly Cycle Test Check website on a regular basis Tests must be signed by parents Extra lessons Monday Afrikaans 3:15 – 4:00 Tuesdays Maths 3:15 – 4:00 English by arrangement

11 Millennium Club Purpose to broaden the base of the College’s outreach programme. Designed to assist needy boys identified by the College who will benefit from the use of the boarding facility. Membership base 1000 people Contribution per member is R1 000 per annum or R100 per month Six annual draws draw prizes are 1 st R5 000 2 nd R2 500 attendance R1 000.

12 Compulsory Summer Sport Summer Sports Primary sport – Aquatics: Swimming and Water polo – Basketball – Cricket – Rowing – Tennis Boys may also opt to be part of the College Pipe Band During the Summer & Winter months

13 Compulsory Winter Sports Rugby Hockey Tennis ( only if you are part of the 1 st team, consists of only 7 boys ) Boys may also opt to be part of the College Pipe Band During the Summer & Winter months If your son has a serious health Problem, which prohibit him from doing sport, please make an appointment to see Mr Nel

15 Cultural Activities Wide range of Cultural activities include: – Bible Quiz (winners 1999-2012) – Chess – Public-Speaking – EADS Drama festival – One-Act Plays – Raps One-Act Play Festival (2009 Winners) – Major Production – Debating – Music and NEA Eisteddfod(Gold Certificates in 2013) – Pipe band – The Drum Corps Current SA Champs – Scotland in August 2013 for World Champs and Won the Perth Gathering

16 Sports Council Promote, foster and safeguard the sporting and cultural activities – Formulate and implement policies – Regulate sport uniform and touring kit – Awarding the following awards Team Awards Merit Certificates Service Certificates Junior Certificates Gr 8/9 Gr 10,11 and 12 boys can be awarded Half and Full Colours a Lapel Pin awarded on Selection for the first team. A Team Blazer awarded at the end of their season (will have to qualify according to each sports criteria) Honours Blazers – Three full colours in Three different Activities provided these awards represent excellence in at least two of the following three areas Academic, Sport or Cultural – Two Full colours and Two Half's in any Four different activities provided these awards represent excellence in at least two of the following three areas Academic, Sport or Cultural Magna Cum Laude Blazers

17 GENERAL Integrated day – Monday’s & Friday’s for gr. 8 – Pre-season On Wednesday last two lessons Dress code – Golf Shirts and new shorts – Tracksuits. – Red white and blue Practice shirts.
