UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

The Department of Physics offers three majors for undergraduates: Honours Physics Honours Physics Honours Physics & High Technology Honours Physics & High Technology Honours Medical Physics Honours Medical Physics

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Department of Physics graduates have gone on to the following careers: Scientist, Proto Manufacturing Ontario Power Generation Technical Writer, Korea NASA Jet Propulsion Labs UBS Bank, London, UK Medical Physicist, Windsor Regional Cancer Centre High School Teacher, Windsor Patent lawyer, Toronto Optical Engineer, Fraunhofer, USA Analyst, Nuclear Safety Solutions

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Our 7 Faculty, and emeritus professors, are all research active, most supervising and including students in their work.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Our Department’s research is concentrated in three primary areas: materials science materials science biomedical physics biomedical physics atomic/molecular/optical physics atomic/molecular/optical physics

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

MANY physics majors choose to double-major or minor in other subjects that are of interest to them: mathematics mathematics computer science computer science chemistry chemistry almost any other major possible almost any other major possible

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

All of our majors can be taken with a “thesis option.” This is a three-credit course in your Senior year and a thesis of your work in a faculty lab is produced.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Many students choose a “co-op option” where they work for three semesters on or off campus in a scientific job.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Our undergraduates have their own student organization, the Physics Club, which is involved in various academic, outreach/service, and social events.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Physics majors are the second highest scoring major on the MCAT, the standardized admissions exam for medical school.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

Many of our students choose to continue studies in physics or medical physics at the graduate level. MSc/PhD in UToronto, Western, UBC, Queens, UCalgary, Waterloo, UMichigan, UWindsor, McGill, Ottawa

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

As of the Fall of 2012, the Physics Department had 83 undergraduates in all streams.

UWindsor Physics, Physics & High Technology, and Medical Physics Spring Open House Welcome to the Department of Physics

…the founder of PayPal, …and Space X, …and Tesla Motors. Elon Musk… …is a physicist?!
