3 doc.: IEEE 15-04-0541-01-004b Submission September 16, 2004 Francois Chin, Liang Li, Clint Powell, Andreas WolfSlide 3 Outline of the merged proposal The existing IEEE802.15.4-2003 868/915 Mhz modes remain mandatory in the standard Two new optional modes based on channel bandwidth will be defined –2 MHz235 kbit/sO-QPSK16+1chip COBI15-04-507-04 –600 kHz234 kbit/sBPSK/ASK32-chip PSSS15-04-121-05 The modes will be applied based on a channel table for todays regulatory domains –915 MHz (North America)2 MHz bandwidth –868 MHz (Europe)600 kHz bandwidth The proposals enables the use of either mode (i.e. 2 MHz or 600 kHz) in new or changed regulatory domains once those become available Consistent with the discussion in the TG4b task group, backward compatibility to the mandatory 20/40 kbit/s base modes is achieved by switching the Rx / Tx mode in the devices
