1 Candidate for Principal: Washington County Virginia Public Schools

2  To give each student the opportunity for success by using new and creative ways of teaching.  To engage each student in the learning process.  Incorporate technology into that learning process to enhance students’ knowledge.  Raise expectations to challenge each student within their realm.

3  Merriam-Webster defines “principal” as “most important, consequential, or influential”  I will be an administrator who promotes student success by:  integrating new technology opportunities for all students (ISLLC 1)  Collaborating with families to insure a “healthy” school-home link (ISLLC 4)  Embracing diversity (ISLLC 5)  Reaching all students, regardless of home situation, academic progress, and socio-economic status (ISLLC 6)

4  I will be an administrator who promotes the success of my staff by:  Providing opportunities to collaborate with teachers from other schools  Providing opportunities for professional development and growth (new technologies, new and creative ways to “get through” to students, etc.)  Providing opportunities for teachers and other staff to offer recommendations and suggestions for school improvement  Providing morale-boosting activities

5  Graduated from UVA-Wise with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education  Graduated from Radford University with a Master’s in Educational Leadership  5 years of classroom experience  Kindergarten

6  Grew up in Chilhowie, Virginia  Two sisters and wonderful parents who’ve been married for 42 years

7  Married to Shawn, originally from Richmond, Virginia  We have two dogs, Tucker and Scarlett, and a cat, Annie  We love to travel.
