13 DIFFERENCES of EU LABOUR FORCE SURVEY Continuous survey Reference week, the first week of each month starting with Monday and ending with Sunday. According to EU regulation, HLFS must be carried out as a continous survey covering every week of the year as reference week. This means that annual sample size is distributed to 52 weeks. In the current situation, there is a fixed reference week for every month in Turkish LFS. (Annual sample size is divided into twelve). Definition of unemployed In related EU regulation; 4 weeks criterion is used for the duration of job search. In Turkish LFS, questions on job search are asked both for 4 weeks and 3 months Micro data are sent to Eurostat by 4 weeks criterion, National estimations are published by 3 months criterion. For unemployment rates calculated by these two criteria, there is 1 to 2 percentage point differences. For this parallel implimentation the continuous LFS started in January 2013.
