Slide 10 Defining Independent Contractors Independent Contractor An individual or small company (excluding C-Corporations) with fewer than three full time employees who performs services for the university in which the contractor exercises complete control and direction over how the work is completed. These individuals are customarily engaged in an independent established business and do not carry ongoing relationships with the university. A more in depth definition can be found here.here

For services $5,000 or greater and less than $50,000: Independent Contractor Agreement To be used when the cost of the project exceeds $50,000: Master Consulting Services Agreement Note: There are international versions of these forms for someone who will work outside of the US who may qualify as an IC.
