Whole-body exposure of unrestrained small animals to electromagnetic field Ph.D. student: Ing. Lukáš Víšek Supervisor: Ing. Ladislav Oppl, Ph.D. Supervisor specialist: Prof. Jan Vrba, CSc. CTU in Prague, Dept. of EM field visekl1@fel.cvut.cz, visekl1@fel.cvut.cz, oppl@fel.cvut.cz, vrba@fel.cvut.cz

Outline Introduction Motivation of doctoral work Exposure system

Introduction rapidly increased use of wireless personal communication systems (mobile phones, wireless networks, pagers, GPS, etc.) public concern about the health hazards of radiofrequency EM fields in vivo and in vitro studies have been conducted

Motivation the aim - to design, implement and analyze a new type of the whole-body exposure system for biological experiments novel method to determine an accurate exposure together with the elimination of external influences which can affect results cooperation with Department of Pathophysiology of Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University in Prague

Desired parameters free movement of animals  elimination of stress uniform exposure  accurate dosimetry low cost, i.e. reduced cost of construction

Exposure system circular waveguide chamber terminated by matched loads shielding of electromagnetic field circular polarized wave power balance – analysis of scattering parameters ventilation holes

Exposure System verification of the circular polarized wave inside chamber determination of relationship between average SAR and varies like growth and orientation of animals numerical determination of average SAR in conjunction with homogenous animal model and experimental validation based on analysis of measured scattering parameters development of anatomical model for simulations determination of whole-body averaged SAR
