3 Page 3 About Saivite Middle School “The Saivite Middle School” at 6/37, Venkier street, Kondithope, Chennai – 79 affiliated to the State Govt of Tamilnadu, started in 1907 is stepping into the glorious 100th year. The school has classes upto the 8th standard (Tamil Medium) and was about to be closed down, not able to bear the maintenance cost. Helptolive (www.yaatra.org) took a bold step and adopted the school. Helptolive decided that the 272 poor students, residing in the slums near by should not be curbed of the right to be educated.www.yaatra.org FREE education is provided to all of them.

5 Page 5 Key Metrics Contd.– Aug 2006 TopicsInformation Medical Camp 200 out of 272 attended the camp. General, Eye and Dental check-ups were done. Blood group was also identified. General – A Course of Multivitamin tablets were given to 4 th to 8 th standard students. Cardio/Mental retardation/Epilepsy and students who were advised EEG were taken to the Government Hospital. All of them are under medication. Dental – Dental hygiene kit was given. Students with dental illness were identified. They are to be taken for further treatment. Eye – Students with vision difficulties were identified and were given the spectacles on 18 th Aug 2006.
