DAC Roles in Supporting GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies ® Assessment and Data Reporting ● Summer/Early Fall: Learn how the GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies ® online system works so you can provide administrative technical assistance. o Get a user name and password! OSPI has assigned user names. Watch for an email from implementation@teachingstrategies.com (check your junk mail) implementation@teachingstrategies.com o If you don’t know your user name, contact OSPI at 360-725- 6161 or e-mail wakids@k12.wa.uswakids@k12.wa.us ● Summer/Early Fall: Sign up any volunteer schools in WAMS. 10 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

DAC Roles in Supporting GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies ® Assessment and Data Reporting ● Late August/Early September: Assist with the process of uploading class lists/student rosters to GOLD™. o Collaborate with your CEDARS administrator to be sure SSIDs are assigned by early September to all WaKIDS students. o The Student Import Tool is located on the GOLD™ Administrator Site Home Page (accessible when you log in to teachingstrategies.com).teachingstrategies.com o Teachers would like their class lists uploaded by September 15. 11 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

DAC Roles in Supporting GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies ® Assessment and Data Reporting ● September/October: Assist with the implementation of GOLD ™. o Work with principals to manage the placement of students (transferring across classes or schools within district; adding students) and monitoring progress o Never delete a student from the system! Instead, archive students who have left the district. When in doubt, call the WaKIDS office. 360-725-6161 12 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

DAC Roles in Supporting GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies ® Assessment and Data Reporting Fall/ Winter/ Spring: Play a leadership role in maximizing the use of WaKIDS school and district data. Become familiar with GOLD™ reports to analyze building and district- level student strengths Prepare reports to seed conversations with local early learning providers Help consider ways to integrate WaKIDS data into the district report card to communicate with families about their children’s strengths Share resources that connect WaKIDS with other state initiatives, such as state learning standards and TPEP Winter/Spring: Analyze district data available from OSPI in January 2016 through WAMS and State Report Card 13 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

Student Import Process Uploading online Adding students manually Thanks to OSPI’s Assessment Data Analysts: Lucas Snider, Alisa Rogers, Brad Howe and Teaching Strategies Staff: Ben Terrett http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

Using the WAMS Pre-Populated Student List to Import Students Into GOLD™ To simplify the import process for DACs, we have created a download that pulls pre-formatted files in the GOLD™ student records import template. To access this list, go to EDS > WAMS > WaKIDS, and select WaKIDS DownloadEDS The file includes all students from SSID issuance when: o School and grade were provided o Students' grades are 'KG‘ o SSID was issued after 5/1/15 You will need to modify the file as necessary (add classID; remove unnecessary records), and save in.csv format for upload to GOLD™ 15 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx

District CEDARS Administrators and SSID Issuance Students must have State Student Identifiers (SSIDs) to be entered into GOLD™ by Teaching Strategies® o Generally the creation of SSIDs occurs through a CEDARS submission. Since districts don’t usually send CEDARS submissions early in the school year, school districts may use the CEDARS SSID Issuance processes instead. We communicated 8/24 with District CEDARS Administrators through the SIMON distribution list to alert them that they must obtain SSIDs by using SSID Issuance as soon as possible but before 9/15. o Records sent through issuance must include the grade and school or they will not flow into the WAMS application that DACs will use to retrieve pre-populated student templates. 16 http://www.k12.wa.us/WaKIDS/default.aspx
