After very briefly discussing the readings, we’ll do an interactive workshop designed to let you begin to investigate and nurture your own ideas of what qualities a great teacher possesses. Who’ll you meet? What you should take away Each will evaluate the session and write a reflective teaching card for CETL and journal in the teaching log for your personal use. How will we assess our learning A face-to-face, low technology exercise with a think-pair–share classroom assessment technique (CAT). What will we do to learn this? We will strive throughout all sessions to model many teaching practice. This one will include a flipped-classroom model, an emergent discussion, active- learning, collaboration and a think –pair-share activity. Teaching reflection and cognitive wrappers are included. 4 NOVA: A special Place to Teach An understanding of all kinds of diversities that form the NOVA student body and an awareness of the challenges and advantages that it brings us. The relationship between diversity and motivation will be discussed. This session will place your teaching practice squarely in the context of NOVA. It will be the background against which you will teach. We’ll continue your reflective practice.
