7 Jesus = “God is Salvation”
The Birth of Jesus Jesus = “God is Salvation”

8 The Birth of Jesus - Matthew 1:18-21
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man … an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.“ By the Holy Spirit How was Jesus conceived inside Mary?

9 The Birth of Jesus - Luke 1:30-35
But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus ….. "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. “The Power of the Most High” What is the Holy Spirit? “The Power of the God” “God’s Power”

10 One View of the Birth of Jesus
? Trinity God-Head What exactly acted on Mary’s Womb?

11 One View of the Birth of Jesus
If the Trinity is correct we would expect the “Son” part of the God-head to act on Mary’s womb

12 The problem with this view
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit caused the conception in Mary’s womb

13 The correct view of the Birth of Jesus
God the Father God’s Special Power The Holy Spirit God the Father is the only true God The Holy Spirit caused conception The Holy Spirit is God’s power Jesus first existed in Mary’s womb and was born 9 months later Jesus is truly “the Son of God”

14 Jesus really is “the son of God”
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 [NASB] “Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren.” Matthew 1:2 [KJV] “By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac ..his only begotten [son]” Hebrews 11:17 [NASB] Jesus is the son of God in the same sense as Isaac is the son of Abraham. Abraham existed first and caused Isaac to be born God existed first, and caused Jesus to be born

15 The Birth of Jesus - The Psalms
“Yet you [God the father] brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast. From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God Psalm 22:9-10 Jesus grew inside Mary’s womb and was born just like any other child Note that Jesus began trusting in God “from his mother’s breast”. Prior to his birth he could not do this, as he did not exist. Note that God was Jesus’ God “from his mother’s womb”. Prior to being conceived Jesus did not exist.

16 The Birth of Jesus - The Psalms
“For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made … My frame was not hidden from Thee, When I was made in secret, [And] skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Thy book they were all written, The days that were ordained [for me], When as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139: [NASB] God “weaved” or created Jesus in his Mother’s womb. Jesus did not exist before this. However, God had a plan “all written” for Jesus’ life before he was born.

17 Why it is important to correctly understand God and Jesus
John 17: 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you (the Father), the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. If we want Eternal life, then we have to know: 1) The Father - the only True God AND 2) Jesus Christ

18 Angel’s rejoiced at the birth of Christ
Because God had kept his promises And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord …. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.“ Luke 2: 8-14

19 Jesus inherited Son of God & Son of Man God the Father God’s character
Mary human mother God the Father Jesus inherited God’s character - developed as he grew Human Nature – exactly like ours A desire to be like his Father and obey him Tempted like us - possible to sin

20 Jesus Understands our problems & temptations
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin. Hebrews 4:15 [Jesus was] made like his brothers in every way …. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:17-18

21 God gave Jesus an important work:
To show people what God is like Not to show what God physically looks like But to show people what the CHARACTER of God is like Jesus did this by the way he behaved and spoke He always spoke God’s words, never his own He always did God’s will, never his own.

22 The Holy Spirit Power To help Jesus do God’s work, God gave him the Holy Spirit, or special power, to Jesus With this power, Jesus could work miracles, feed and heal people, and even raise the dead Jesus never misused this power; he only used it to do the work of God.

23 Jesus never claimed equality with God
Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does… John 5:17-20 Jesus was totally dependent on His Father

24 How was Jesus “one” with God?
“I and the Father are one” John 10:30 In mind or purpose Jesus showed people what the Character of God was like perfectly by his words and actions Jesus and God were in complete agreement about what needed to be done and how to do it Jesus understood the thoughts of his father His own thoughts and desires never got in the way of what God asked him to do

25 Jesus prayed that believers should be “one” with God and Jesus
[Jesus prayed] “for those who will believe in me …. That they all may be one; as You, Father, are in me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us: that the world may believe that You sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one just as we are one: I in them, and You in me, that they may be made perfect in one; that the world may know that You have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me John 17:20-23 [NKJV]

26 The Father has delegated the work of “judgment” to Jesus
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father …. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man …. By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me John 5:22-30 The Father is greater than Jesus

27 When will Jesus Judge the World?
Matthew 25:31-34 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. When Jesus comes back to the earth!

28 세상 나라가 우리 주와 그 그리스도의 나라가 되어 그가 세세토록 왕 노릇 하시리로다 요한계시록 11v15
The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever Revelation 11v15
