2 Background STAC Created by ICHE in April 2000 Membership (30): – Each Public 4-Yr. Campus, Ivy Tech, VU – Representation from Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) and 3 ICI Institutions (Indiana Wesleyan, U of Indpls., Valparaiso U) Strong Faculty Representation 10+ Others (Indiana DOE, CELL) Chaired by Dr. Kathy Tobin (Purdue-Calumet) 2

3 Key Legislative Action 2003 Session: – STAC Becomes Codified in Statute – Transfer Web Site To Be Created (TransferIN.net) 2005 Session: – Core Transfer Library (CTL) To Be Created (Minimum of 70 Courses) – 12 Program Areas To Have Statewide Articulations – Accomplish by June 30, 2007 3

6 Core Transfer Library (CTL) Number of Courses: 89, soon to be 97 Challenges: – Filling in gaps – Courses delivered through distance education – Adding dual credit courses – Fully incorporating ICI courses 6

11 2+2 Articulations Currently, Separate Articulations with all 14 University Campuses for Ivy Tech and VU, e.g. – Ivy Tech has to develop/maintain 14 separate articulation agreements for Biology or Business Administration – Same for VU Common Statewide Articulations Needed: – Too complicated, inefficient – Confusion for students 11

13 Dual Credit Dual Credit Advisory Council – Coherent policy on AP and dual credit courses – Priority courses in the liberal arts identified at December 2009 meeting CHE – Updated 2005 Policy on Dual Credit at its February 2010 meeting – NACEP (National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) accreditation referenced, but not required 13

15 Dual Credit Subcommittee of STAC Subcommittee Focusing on: – Reviewing institutional dual credit programs that are not NACEP accredited (both public and ICI) – Completing review by September – After September, identifying what information should be reported on a regular basis and according to what timetable 15

16 Besides Dual Credit Courses Advanced Placement – (4-person team from College Board coming to STAC meeting on April 30) International Baccalaureate CLEP CAEL ACE/Dantes/DSST 16

17 Tracking Students Using CHE SIS Data Adding ICI SIS Data Challenge: Lack of Transcript-Level Data 17

18 Transfer-Related Technology Outside Funding Opportunities Will Affect TransferIN Budget If Federal SLDS Grant Comes Through, We Will Be Able To: – Add ICI institutions to a greater extent – Add learning outcomes to courses descriptions 18
