All registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners. www.perotsystems.com 2 Current Landscape In 2006 cost of healthcare was $2.2 trillion or 16.5% of GDP (other countries average 10% - 13%) US healthcare ranks 37 th in quality and 1 st in cost 46% of those filing for personal bankruptcy in 2001 did so due to medical expense (3/4 had insurance) Takes an average of 17 years to move from clinical trials to everyday practice Lifestyle related behaviors make up 5 of 10 leading causes of death (7 in some reports) —Chronic diseases such as heart disease & diabetes account for 70% of US deaths and 75% of annual healthcare cost —Number of obese more than doubled from 1960 to 2002 —Healthy weight decreased from 51% to 34%

Corporate America pays 1/3 of the total cost of healthcare (medicare/medicaid pay almost half) Private insurance cost for conditions related to overweight/obese in 18-64 year olds was $3.6 billion in 1987 to $35.5 billion in 2002 In Texas: —Healthcare spend trended at 6.5% from 1996–2000 compared to a national rate of 5.6% —We exceed national trends for obesity and sedentary lifestyles —We are 11 th in the nation for high % of residents who are overweight/obese  In 2002 68.5% of males and 49.5% of females were overweight/obese  35% of schoolchildren overweight/obese —We rank 17 th in heart disease for men and 15% for women —We have a 48% incidence of diabetes in ages 45-64 (US is 45%) —24.6% of our population is uninsured (75% of which work full time)
