Grace Fellowship Church www.GraceDoctrine.org Pastor/Teacher Jim Rickard Sunday, June 7, 2009

Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hades; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the Church (body of Christ); the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

1 John 5:14-15 Confidence in God with prayer as the example for living the unique Spiritual Life, Part 2.

Prayer is an extension of the spiritual life.

The 1 st Epistle of John emphasizes the Plan of the Father for our Eternal Life in relation to our prayer life which should give us confidence in our Spiritual Lives.

Prayer is used as an illustration of confidence to live the spiritual life just as in 1 John 3:21 ‑ 22.

Principles: 1) Prayer minus virtue (confidence in God) is robbed of its power; just as the spiritual life minus virtue is robbed of its power.

2) Prayer is dependent upon harmonious rapport with God in the spiritual life by means of GPS.

3) God is showing us His mandates for prayer which means that there are mandates for living the Spiritual Life.

4) Therefore, the will of God is not obscure, except to those believers who live outside of the Spiritual Life in perpetual carnality, inside Satan’s Cosmic System.

5) The will of God is the execution of the Spiritual Life of the Church Age believer demonstrated through the protocol for prayer.

6) God heard our prayers in eternity past and answers our prayers in time; just as God had a Plan for your spiritual life in eternity past which is being lived out in time.

In verse 14 we learned “Virtue Dependence” in regard to your prayers being heard.

In verse 15 we learn “Virtue Dependence” in regard to your prayers being answered.

God must first hear your prayers through His protocol Plan before He can answer them through His righteousness and justice.

“And when we know”, KAI EAN OIDA Perfective Present: What habitually occurs when believers reside and function inside GPS, learn Bible doctrine, and have an effective prayer life.

“He hears” – Pres. Act. Indic. of AKOUO. The omniscience of God hears our prayer in eternity past and answers it in time when the prayer is offered.

“Whatever we might have asked” - HOS EAN AIKEO. The subject may not only offer the prayer, but he might also do so from inside GPS; if yes to both = virtue dependent and answered.

“We have / possess the answer to the prayers requested”. This is confidence that our prayers will be answered.

“From Him”, God the Father answers our prayers.

1 John 5:15, “In fact when we know that He (God the Father) hears us in whatever we might have asked, we know that we possess the answer to the prayers requested which we have asked from Him.”

Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” w/ Heb 10:35-36
