A Partnership between Justin Bartholomew and Kelsi Washburn

Why do we need a bakery?  There isn’t a wide variety of bakery products available in Macungie.  We could provide gluten free foods that would fit custom needs of people in the community that other stores don’t have.  The community needs a pace to relax to drink coffee and eat baked goods.

 Our business is called Crave, and we will create baked and pastry goods. It will be located at the corner of Main, and Race Street in Macungie, Pa.  Our customers will be drawn to our business because of the quality and diversity of our products. The store will be open from 7 to 7 Monday-Friday, 8 to 1 on Saturday, and it will be closed on Sunday.  The business will start with 20 employees, and make adjustments accordingly.

 Per year, our business will make $250,000 to $300,000.  Per hour, our front employees (register/preparation) will be paid $7.50. Our back employees (pastry chefs) will be paid $13.00 (these workers will have degrees).  Our logo is the Merlin Cookie.  The slogan we answer the phone with is: “Thank you for calling crave, want new flaves, come to Crave’s”.

 Our products are unique because they originate from all over the globe. They are commonly found in Europe, Australia, and parts of Asia.  Our target customers are all age groups and both genders; people who enjoy experiencing different foods, and have a sweet tooth.  Our customers will be pleased because the products are different from other baked goods. They have historical backgrounds, and customers will be interested in trying foods that are normally eaten in other countries. Our customers will receive a taste of international foods. coffee doughnuts bread cake muffins pie scones croissants puddings Cinnamon buns baguettes brownies cupcakes Ice cream cookies

 Our strategy is to offer our customers high quality, international coffee and bakery products with personal service at a competitive price.  Store Hours  Mon-Fri: 7am-7pm  Sat: 8am-1pm  Sun: closed

 Coffee  Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee per day, making up 75% of the daily caffeine intake.  The sales of specialty coffee increase by 20% each year.  What does this mean?  Our specialty coffee products will be popular among our customers, and the sales of the product will increase each year. Baked Goods –The sale of baked goods increased 5.6 % from 2009 to 2010. Operating income increased 65%. What does this mean? –Since the sales of baked goods are increasing, we expect our business to flourish and be busy. Especially because our products are unique compared to most bakeries.

 Customers  Our bakery’s location is close to many schools, so the majority of our customers will be children. Bakery products are popular among teens, and they will be valued in our business.  A lot of elderly people are also close to the business, and they enjoy their sweets.  The layout of our business will be designed to fit the tastes and moods of both categories of people.
