Telling Your Story: Part 1 Campus Campaign Coordinator Training

Objectives  We will learn how to start our stories with the why  We will integrate personal touches to connect with and inspire others

Starting with the “WHY” - The Institute of Learning

 We want everyone we meet to know what can be done about educational inequality and how they can be a part of the solution.  Logistics aren’t what excite people; our mission and our beliefs do that!  We convey our passion through our personal stories.

Why Does This Matter? We are the Sanford Inspire Program and our mission is to inspire others to see the value in a profession that we believe in. We also want to connect with as many students as possible in the hopes of students telling our story to their peers.

How Were Your Stories Shaped? - The Institute of Learning

What experiences and/or people have shaped your values and made you want to do this work?

List your 5 most memorable experiences and be ready to share out one of them as if you were “telling your story.”

Practice Articulating Your WHY - The Institute of Learning

Listen to the Recruiter Tell His/Her Story  Reflect on the example story:  What was effective?  What might we need to be cautious of?  How might a student react, think, or respond to this story?  Recruiter/SW Role Play

Reflection - The Institute of Learning

 What did you learn either about yourself or someone else in the telling of your stories?  What commonalities did you discover between their story and one of yours?  How did you feel when the stories were shared?

Assignment: Educational Autobiography  Review Educational Autobiography document.  These are due to your manager no later than Wednesday, August 14 th by 8am.

Closing - The Institute of Learning

 What three things stuck out to you most?  What is one thing that squared with your thinking (you agree with this)  What is still circling around in your mind? (questions)
