1 A life outside hospital
Gavin Harding & Zandrea Stewart Winterbourne View Joint Improvement Programme

2 Moving on, Making Change Happen, Together
Every single person in the room today wants to contribute making change happen Everyone in the room believes that people with a learning disability, autism, mental health and behaviour that challenge should be listened to and heard We can all play a part in our own way to influence and drive the changes In my role as one of two principal advisors and the autism lead for ADASS I am in the privileged position to act as a bridge between local and national, linking into your structure to support the changes and tackle the challenges

3 The vision Everyone, with no exception, deserves a place to call home. Person by person, area by area, the number of people with learning disabilities and autism in specialist hospitals and Assessment and Treatment Units will permanently reduce to the point it will become extremely rare for a person to be excluded from the right to live their life outside of a hospital setting.

4 A Hospital is NOT a Home People of all ages currently in inpatient care = 3250 people: NHS Unit Independent Learning Disability Census 2013

5 Priorities – For local planning
