Long ago, in the land of Egypt, there lived a maiden called Rhodopis. When she was still small, she was stolen by Pirates! She was then taken and sold as a slave.
Rhodopis and the other servant girls went to the River Nile every day to wash clothes or gather reeds. Rhodopis looked very different from the other servant girls- Rhodopiss hair was blonde and her eyes were green but the other servant girls had brown hair and brown eyes.
Her master was old and liked to sleep by the fig tree. He heard the servant girls shouting: Hurry up Rhodopis Mend my robe, Rhodopis. Rhodopis always hurried to do their jobs.
Rhodopis didnt make friends with the servant girls, instead she made friends with the animals. When she had finished her work, she would go to river and dance. Once, her master saw her dancing and said you shall go barefoot no longer
Her master ordered a pair of beautiful slippers for her. The servant girls were jealous because they only wore plain sandals.
The next morning, Rhodopis followed the servant girls to the river. Kipa wore a necklace of blue beads. Bracelets dangled on the wrist of the second. The third had tied a many coloured sash around her waist.
Rhodopis started washing the clothes in the basket. The hippo soon got bored and splashed into the river, and splattered mud on Rhodopiss lovely slippers.
She then had to polish her shoes. Then she got back to her jobs. Suddenly, a massive shadow fell on the water. Rhodopis looked up, it was the falcon Horus.
She looked up, the falcon had one of her very pretty slippers in his claws. She shouted come back! but Horus didnt hear her. He flew away to Memphis where the Pharaoh was.
