Number portability gives a possibility to bring a phone number along when switching mobile operator. Number portability can increase bargaining power for mobile subscribers towards mobile operators. Can lead to lower tariffs and better service if properly implemented. (Measuring the Benefits of Mobile Number Portability, Lyons, 2006) Or is number portability more suitable for markets with higher penetration?
