5 Chernobyl… 22 years after At the time of the accident, about seven million people lived in the contaminated areas, including three million children. About 350,400 people were resettled or have left these areas. However, about 5.5 million people, including more than a million children, still live in the contaminated zones.

7 Ukraine Public Organization “Chernobyl Union of Ukraine” was founded in 1993 as a voluntary self- supporting organization and carries out public work under the Ukrainian Constitution on the territory of 24 districts of Ukraine. 8 Chernobyl Children committee The Committee “Chernobyl Children” deals with problems of Chernobyl children in Ukraine, their medical treatment. Chernobyl children receive treatment and recuperation both in Ukraine and abroad in various countries. Recuperative holidays were organised for more than 400 children abroad and more than 10,000 children undergone medical health checks. Our organization upholds the rights of the Chernobyl victims and assists them wherever possible. It seeks organisations and individuals who are willing to provide any form of assistance to children who are disabled as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.
