Bertrand DuGuesclin was a famous war leader. He lived in the Middle-Age, when France and England were at war.
He was born in Brittany in 1320. After having fought in France, in Spain, he helped the French king Charles V to send the English back home.
At the end of his life, he came to our region, he set free a village, Châteauneuf de Randon.
It was in winter. He was hot and he drank cold water. Duguesclins fountain near Chateauneuf
He died as a result. His soldiers took his body back to the capital
Le Puy en Velay At that time, transport was slow, it began to rot. So they left his guts in le Puy.

His body was taken back to Paris. Finally his skeleton has been buried with the king in Paris,
and his heart was sent to Brittany were he was born.
