Its the early spring, its cold and some flakes of hail begin to fall on the fields which are already white: there are some narcissuses flowers. A young man walks across the field, pushing a cart equipped with a collecting comb. When his comb is full, he fill a big bag with the head of flowers of narcissuses.

From the producer up to transformer (the only site of extraction is in Lozere). With 450 kilograms of flower, one obtains 1 kilogram of concentrated perfume, a kind of oil which gives 350 grams of absolute. This narcissus essence will be then transformed into perfume, according to a proportion wanted by its compositor.

The narcissuses flower in spring when the grass starts to grow. This wild plant commonly grows between 800 and 1300 metres of altitude, prefer the way wich are a bit hard. And its now or never, and on a dozen of days between May and the beginning of June each year, the flowers must be picked up.
