6th November 2007SWENET Developer Forum1 SWENET Developers Forum Review and discussion on the status of the Space Weather European Network (SWENET) –Recent updates to the Internet Portal –New data and Service Development Activities Identify and discuss further developments and services that best support the activities of the community.
6th November 2007SWENET Developer Forum2 Current Status SWENET provides a web based portal to access services and data established in ESAs SW Pilot Projects SDAs –Continuous update through the last years with new data sources and features –Additional extension for the SWENET portal and database foreseen for SDAs involved in the Pilot Project –24 SDAs are currently operational –13 SDAs provide products and data to the SWENET portal Outlook –Most SDAs have perspectives up to –Participation in SWENET has helped in acquiring national funding –Some SDAs are funded by customers (mostly Ground Effects)
6th November 2007SWENET Developer Forum3 Discussion topics Generation of now cast & forecast quality statistics for space weather indices is being implemented –The statistics will serve to evaluate the quality of SDA generated indices forecasts –The generation of indices is often not well documented –Developers should always provide the input parameters and used models or functions. For indices produced by SDAs this will be collected and summarised in SWENET More data from spacecraft would be useful (i.e. telemetry data) –this might become possible with new SDAs such as SEISOP SDAs are interested in knowing what the data is used for by the users SWENET contains a high number of data sets from data sources Visibility on what data is included needs to be increased New datasets will be incorporated to account for user and SDA requests
6th November 2007SWENET Developer Forum4 Data Available in SWENET Kp index from the Swedish Institute of Space Physics. Dst values from the Kyoto University Geomagnetic indices from SDAs Solar Radio Indices from TSRS Data produced by various SWENET SDAs –TEC Maps, Scintillation Quickmaps,Muon Telescope data, foF2 frequency, proton data, geomagnetic act. outlook, SW reports Data from the NOAA/SEC FTP server Additional high resolution data from SEC SOHO solar wind data from the University of Maryland Halo CME Data from the Naval Research Laboratory New datasets will be incorporated to account for user and SDA requests
