12 Why did Indians want independence? During WWI, Indians were promised Independence In fact, Self Determination was hugely popular after the war throughout Europe. Self-determination- Free to live as one chooses without permission from others.

21 Gandhi and Satyagraha Civil Disobedience: Do not follow unjust laws. Boycotts: Refuse to purchase British manufactured goods Strikes: Refuse to go to work for British companies (like the railroad or civil service) Non- Violence: No matter what, do not react to anything with violence. Those who fight with their fists can always be called criminals. Those who refuse to raise their hand against their enemy can only be seen as victims. Public opinion will side with the victims.

24 These events, marches, demonstrations and so on, United the people of India (Hindu, Muslim and Sikh) against the British and hurt the British economy. They also turned international opinion against the British. By the end of WWII, England doesn't have the money to maintain their control of India, and Finally, Indians are granted their Independence.
