3. We are learning about the pond. Ponds usually have four seasons. Sometimes they are hot or cold. Ponds are small bodies of fresh water.

4. Ponds are all over the Earth on all 7 continents. Snow and ice can even melt on Antarctica and make a pond!

5. There are many plants growing in or by a pond. Most ponds have lily pads.They have roots that grow in the bottom of the pond but their leaves float on the pond`s surface. The Cuckoo flower grows in the Spring around the pond. It has lilac blooms.

6. The koi fish can live in ponds. A smaller fish called a swordtail swims around the koi and eats the bugs off of them. The koi get cleaned and the swordtail gets food. They help each other.

7. We learned that the pond has still water so the insects and plants don’t get swept away by a current. Another fact about the pond is that it has lots of insects. That is good for animals that live there because many of them eat insects. We liked learning about the pond. It was fun!
