2. The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. The mission of the chapter shall be: “The Norman D. Kepner Chapter of the Howland National Honor Society strives to enhance student development through scholarship, leadership, service and character. We encourage a higher standard of education and professional moral standing by taking initiative to promote positive change through selfless service to our school and community. Through our commitment to exceed these expectations, each individual will serve as a pillar to the advancement of the Chapter’s legacy.”

3. 3.4 GPA with 2 Honors Courses 3.6 GPA with College Prep Courses 8 activity points –school organizations/sports/etc. 40 logged service hours

5. Leadership –Clubs, athletics Strong sense of character –What type of person do people view you as? Remember, you are always on display! Initiative –In classes, organizations, the community *Eligibility begins at the end of the fifth semester (January of Junior year)

6. Maintain a 3.4/3.6 GPA Attend all meetings –Sports and other organizations are not excuses for missing meetings 10 service hours by end of year 5 summer hours

7. Service Project –Monthly –3-4 people –Create hours –Serve others Who will your project benefit?

9. 15 school hours and 15 community hours per semester Serve as a member of the Service Committee, Fundraising Committee, or Public Relations Committee Must attend all meetings –First Tuesday of every month –Sports and other organizations are not excuses for missing meetings
