Structural designs Woven – plaids – created through a woven pattern of different colored yarns – Balanced – Unbalanced Yarn – can be knit or woven – using different sizes or textures of yarn to create a pattern
Surface designs Embroidered designs– using thread and embroidery machine – design created by a series of stitches Embossed designs - A calendering process in which fabrics are engraved with the use of heated rollers under pressure to produce a raised design on the fabric surface.
Surface designs Flocked fabric- raised decoration applied to the surface of a fabric in which an adhesive is printed on the fabric in a specific pattern, and then finely chopped fibers are applied by means of dusting, air-brushing, or electrostatic charges. The fibers adhere only to the areas where the adhesive has been applied, and the excess fibers are removed by mechanical means. Printed fabric – can be screen-printed with inks, roller-printed with inks, can be one design or all-over print, can be directional or non-directional
