1 EOG Vocabulary Week of March 28, 2011 Math Words: Fractions and Properties

2 Which word means… a letter or symbol that represents an unknown number in an equation.

3 Which word means… applies to multiplication, states that when 2 addends are multiplied by a factor, the product is the same as when each addend is multiplied and then added. Example: (2+3)x4=(2x4)+(3x4)

4 Which word means… applies to addition and multiplication, states that the order in which numbers are added or multiplied will not change the answer 3+7+8=8+3+7 4x9x2=2x4x9

5 Which word means… applies to addition and multiplication, states that the grouping of the numbers will not change the answer (2+5)+8=2+(5+8) (2x5)x8=2x(5x8)
