2 Climate and Weather in DC  Seasonal with extreme variations  spring, summer, fall and winter - almost equal months  Summer - tends to be extra hot and humid.  Fall and Spring are the best seasons, when chilly but perfect days are the norm  Rain and snow are possible -  often sudden and for a short time  In winter - snowfalls average 7 inches (18 cm) and often sudden frozen rainstorms.
